24 New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) In 2020, ten academics participated in the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP). The nGAP is one of the programmes within the Staffing South Africa’s Universities Framework and is a sub-programme of the University Capacity Development Plan (UCDP). It involves the recruitment of highly capable scholars as new academics against carefully designed and balanced equity considerations and in light of the disci- plinary areas of greatest need. The NGAP is an intensive de- velopment programme that supports newly recruited academic staff.
