BACHELOR OF COMMERCE IN ECONOMICS

Period of study: 3 Years

The purpose of the Bachelor of Commerce in Economics (BCom in Economics) is to provide students with strong economic and quantitative competences through learning approaches that emphasise the use of technology throughout the programme.

Graduates will not only acquire sound economics knowledge, but will become critical thinkers, problem solvers, effective communicators and forward thinkers that are capable of functioning in diverse multi-cultural environments and teams.

Graduates will be able to carry out sophisticated economic analysis and communicate the analysis to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. These attributes contribute to the ability of graduates to be advisers in both the public and private sectors.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

Sol Plaatje University sets the minimum academic requirements for admission into study programmes. The institutional regulations of the University  in respect of admission to degree study (General Rules) are applicable for admission to the BCom in Economics degree.

The specific rules applicable to this degree are as outlined below:

National School Certificate (NSC) pass with degree requirement and the following:

  • English HL – NSC level 4 OR English FAL – NSC level 5
  • Mathematics – NSC Level 3 OR Mathematical Literacy – NSC level 5
  • Minimum APS score of 30

RPL may be used as per the University’s  Policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) of 2014.
