SAP-University Alliance and ESEFA
SPU is a member of the SAP-University Alliance and Enterprise Systems Education for Africa (ESEFA). The partnership aims to sustainably develop skills in Sub-Saharan Africa in the area of Enterprise Resource Systems.
Read more The benefits for students is that they gain industry relevant skills (theoretical & practical) that is in high demand, and also get exposure/access to advanced technologies and other exciting learning opportunities via various other SAP UA programmes. This includes remote access to Otto Von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany which hosts the SAP ERP system at SAP UCC (University Competence Centre). Benefits for faculty include aaccess to a variety of high quality and contextualized curriculum that can be used for teaching & self-development, access to a network of other academics across Sub Saharan Africa and potential for collaboration and partnership in teaching & research. The partnership is also promoting women in data science by offering sponsorship. Due to massive data that is generated by enterprise systems, these platforms offers new trajectories in data analytics. SPU has ESEFA ES Fundamentals qualified staff. ESEFA ES Fundamentals qualified lecturers get access to the ESEFA portal –a repository for ESEFA curriculum content including case study videos, lecture slides, workshops, lecturer notes and other resources. The benefits to the University are visibility and recognition, locally and internationally. ESEFA Programme partner universities, Sub-Saharan Africa ES Fundamentals training for students can run ES Fundamentals short courses for students registered at any tertiary education institution; can schedule ES Fundamentals exams; facilitating opportunities for students in the SAP ecosystem through events, internships, job opportunities and bursaries; encouraging and supporting faculty in their research and teaching. National e-Science Postgraduate Teaching and Training Platform (NEPTTP)
SPU is a member of a consortium of six South African universities that are implementing the DST initiative on National Integrated Cyberinfrastructure System (NICIS). This involves development of human capital with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct cutting edge research in the field of e-Science in line with the South African Research Infrastructure Roadmap (SARIR), the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) and others.

Ilifu Cloud computing for data-intensive research
SPU is a member of a consortium of the Ilifu cloud computing project for data-intensive research. The objective of this project is to address the need for data-intensive research support in South Africa.
