Accommodation Unit (CAHAU) is dedicated to creating a supportive living and learning environment that fosters a strong sense of community and serves as a home away from home for students. Aligned with the SPU\u2019s strategic goals and enrolment targets, CAHAU prioritises holistic student development by ensuring that the residence experience fully supports and enhances students&#8217; academic success and personal growth.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, CAHAU strives to create a living and learning environment as the foundation of its residence culture and best practices of building a home away from home for students. As living and learning spaces, residences are important spaces through which students can safely explore ways of living, ways of being and ways of thriving academically.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By working collaboratively and in partnership with academic departments, student leaders, students and other stakeholders\u2019 wardens will ensure that a menu of diverse academic, social, cultural, sporting, and recreational activities are available to students. The warden will provide pastoral care and discipline to students in the residence environment concerning the implementation of university rules, policies and procedures, and will have residence accountability for effective student support, development and learning support in the residence.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wardens are appointed on a part-time basis in addition to their House Committee (HC) is an important part of student governance structures in the University that represents students in residence, with the President of the General Housing Council (GHC) being a member representing House Committees in the SRC.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The HC is tasked with developing a residence culture and in ensuring inclusion, cohesion, and adjustment by first time entrants into residence life.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>OBJECTIVES OF THE HC<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Objectives of HC are to:<\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li>Represent residence students in matters that may affect them through the Division of Residences established protocol.<\/li><li>Monitor the proper functioning of all house committees in accordance with each house committees plan of action with specific reference to the provisions of the constitution.<\/li><li>Promote student development through the House Committee approved Residence Life initiatives.<\/li><li>Foster, promote and protect traditions and the good name of the residences.<\/li><li>Promote and encourage a culture of respect and discipline amongst introduced by CAHAU. The residence life themes exist to ensure that there are holistic student support and development initiatives, where various aspects of a student\u2019s experience will be considered in order to ensure student success.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Generally, these themes can be viewed as areas of focus for student support and development that contribute to the University producing well-rounded graduates.
