Development Programme. These transformative imperatives focus on three areas: student development, staff development, and curriculum\/programme development.<\/p><p>In the 2024-2026 UCDP cycle plan, Sol Plaatje University has strategically aligned projects.<\/p><h3><strong>Nurturing Emerging Scholar programme (NESP)<\/strong><\/h3><p>The Department of Higher Education (DHET) launched the NESP programme to help retain highly skilled professionals in academia and promote transformation within the sector. NESP is designed to identify emerging scholars\u2014students in their final undergraduate year, or those pursuing or who have completed Honours or Master\u2019s degrees with strong academic records and are interested in pursuing a career in academia.<\/p><h3><strong>New Generation of Academics programme (nGAP)<\/strong><\/h3><p>The nGAP is a DHET initiative with an objective to build a new generation of South African academics to transform the Higher Education sector. nGAP recruits&#8217; scholars for a six-year structured program to fast-track their development.\u00a0<\/p><p>Sol Plaatje University currently has emerging academics participating in the nGAP.<\/p><h3><strong>University Staff Doctoral Programme (USDP)<\/strong><\/h3><p>The USDP supports university staff in pursuing a doctoral degree, contributing to research capacity and knowledge production in South Africa,\u00a0making them more valuable to their universities and the country. With the\u202fmentorship\u202fand\u202fcollaboration opportunities\u202fprovided by the program, scholars will be able to produce high-quality research and make meaningful contributions to their fields of study.<\/p><p>Sol Plaatje University has its first academic on the USDP Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) program.<\/p><h3><strong>Higher Education Leadership and Management (HELM)\u00a0Programme\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3><p>The (HELM) Programme has been instrumental in shaping strategic perspectives and strengthening leadership capacities within South African universities since its inception in 2002.\u00a0HELM remains essential by providing invaluable perspectives and equipping university leaders at all levels with the requisite skills and strategies to navigate complexities effectively.<\/p><p>Sol Plaatje University has two academics participating in the HELM Programme.<\/p><h3><strong>Teaching Advancement at University (TAU) Programme<\/strong><\/h3><p>The TAU Fellowships Programme seeks to build a cadre of teaching fellows in a wide range of disciplines over a 19-month programme, involving block week contact sessions, individual projects in own teaching and learning settings, group projects and reflective reports; participants are drawn from all South African universities. SPU has two academics participating in the TAU Fellowship Programme.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-1612\"
