Dear SPU Community<\/p>

On Tuesday, 12 May 2020 we embarked upon an Orientation Programme for our students to help them navigate the system and resources that have been set-up for their e-Learning during the national lockdown.\u00a0<\/p>

The programme is going well for those students who have been able to gain access to it.\u00a0<\/p>

Our challenge is that not all our students have received the MTN data package that will facilitate their initial authentication to the University Learning Management System (Moodle). The data needed for this access is not substantial so students could use their existing packages for the authentication. Thereafter access to the site will be free.<\/p>

We have staggered the Orientation Programme to allow for the late participation of students and will continue to offer this programme until all our students have received the requisite data package and are able to benefit from it.\u00a0<\/p>

Our plan, as previously communicated, is to begin offering the e-Learning opportunity to our students from Monday, 18 May 2020.\u00a0<\/p>

The time-table to follow can be downloaded here<\/strong><\/a> and is also accessible on the Moodle site.<\/p>

We are working with national structures to access learning centres that can be used by our students in areas where there is no access to electricity or digital connectivity.<\/p>

The University is also working around the clock to resolve the delay in supplying data packages to students.\u00a0<\/p>

To this end we urge students who have not yet supplied their correct contact details to please do so immediately.\u00a0<\/p>

We should be able to offer the e-Learning opportunity to the majority of our students at the first session today, 18 May 2020.<\/p>

Sol Plaatje University is fortunate to be in such a strong position so early in this digital switchover.\u00a0<\/p>

I want to once again thank our dedicated staff who have worked diligently to prepare us for this change in our teaching and learning mode of delivery.<\/p>

I wish you all well as we move forward in our efforts to complete the academic year in these unprecedented circumstances.<\/p>
