Dear SPU Staff<\/p>

At the Senior Management Team Meeting held on Monday, 1 June 2020, a report was presented by the COO from the Post-Lockdown Task Team about plans for staff to return to campus.<\/p>

I am happy to report that Sol Plaatje University has adhered to the required health and safety requirements in order to enable a phased return to campus by staff.<\/p>

From Monday, 15 June 2020, one third of our staff should return to work.<\/p>

It is imperative that we do not exceed the one third cap on staff working on campus during the Level 3 national lockdown. Therefore, the Senior Management Team and all managers up to the level of Senior Manager will be the first group of staff returning to full-time duties.<\/p>

Other categories of staff will return when it is possible to do so and as directed by their immediate line managers.<\/p>

The following must be strictly adhered to during this phase:<\/p>

1. Staff not returning to work on 15 June 2020, should continue to work from home and only come onto campus if it is absolutely necessary to do so.<\/p>

2. All staff who need to enter the campus, have to apply for a permit to do so. This will be issued by the Chief Operating Officer, as delegated by the Vice Chancellor.<\/p>

3. Staff over 60 years and staff with comorbidities are encouraged to work from home.<\/p>

4. When on campus staff will be required to: wear masks at all times, sanitise regularly and practice social distancing. Staff will receive clear instructions from the Human Resources Department in this regard.<\/p>

I look forward to welcoming those returning to work on 15 June 2020.<\/p>
