As part of these activities the NC DoE and the SPU School of Education will host a virtual programme to celebrate our teachers, student teachers and teacher educators.<\/p><p>We are honoured to host Professor Aileen Kennedy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.strath.ac.uk\/\">University of Strathclyde<\/a>, Glasgow, Scotland to share her work in teacher education and professional development in the global north. The programme will also feature the voices of our current and former students as potential and new members of the teaching profession.\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>The event will take place as follows:<\/strong><\/p><p>Date: 8 October 2020<\/p><p>Time: 13:30 \u2013 17:00<\/p><p>Venue: Microsoft Teams (Click <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3jGBNfL\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to join the event)<\/p><p><strong>About Professor Aileen Kennedy<\/strong><\/p><p>Aileen Kennedy is Professor of Practice in Teacher Education at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.strath.ac.uk\/\">University of Strathclyde<\/a>, Glasgow \u2013 a University committed to socially progressive values. She is currently the Director of Teacher Education for the School of Education, working collaboratively with colleagues and wider stakeholders to enhance and promote the University\u2019s work in teacher education policy and pedagogy.<\/p><p>She views teaching as a powerful means of addressing disadvantage, and is committed to developing activist and transformative approaches to teacher education. Prior to entering academia she worked originally as a primary teacher and then as a Professional Officer with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
