{"id":17295,"date":"2021-05-31T14:39:40","date_gmt":"2021-05-31T12:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/index.php\/start-of-second-term-copy\/"},"modified":"2021-05-31T15:35:30","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T13:35:30","slug":"launch-donating-to-spu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/index.php\/launch-donating-to-spu\/","title":{"rendered":"SPU launches Donating to SPU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sol Plaatje University is pleased to announce the launch of the \u2018Donating to SPU\u2019 web page, which goes live on the SPU website today, 31 May 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the page is to create a central home dedicated to raising funds for various University initiatives that will make it simple for internal and external stakeholders to convert to donors. Whether big or small, funding plays a significant role in maintaining excellence in research and student support.<\/p>\n<p>In line with its business sustainability strategy, SPU employed a Director of Institutional Advancement, Mr Qondakele Sompondo, to drive its institutional positioning and resource mobilisation imperatives. \u201cWe are thrilled to launch the \u2018Donating to SPU\u2019 web page, which is a one-stop-shop for philanthropic giving to SPU,\u201d says Mr Sompondo. \u201cAs an institution, we believe that our students and our research have the potential to change the world; therefore, their stories must be shared with the whole world\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The web page is structured to allow a seamless user experience with an easy-to-navigate homepage with a recognisable Donating to SPU design, in line with the SPU brand. Here, visitors are welcomed by a call-to-action from SPU\u2019s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Andrew Crouch, prompting donors to make a difference. There is also information on current appeals requiring funding, fundraising projects, success stories, and a \u2018ways to donate\u2019 tab where donors can donate online or make direct EFT payments into the University\u2019s bank account.<\/p>\n<p>The Donating to SPU web page is a critical element in garnering financial support for scholarships and research programmes that will not only change lives for the better but will ensure that talented young people can study at SPU regardless of their background.
