The first issue was distributed to alumni on Wednesday, 13 April 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Qondakele Sompondo, Director: Institutional Advancement, said this is a proud moment for the University. \u201cIn its first eight years SPU has produced over 1&nbsp;100 graduates \u2013 and they represent a rapidly growing network of skilled, passionate and enthusiastic alumni who form one of SPU\u2019s most valued stakeholder groups. We launched our Alumni Affairs Unit in SPU\u2019s DIA in 2021 to work diligently on building and constantly strengthening SPU\u2019s relationship with its alumni. This newsletter is one of the key communication tools, but alumni can expect to hear a lot more from their alma mater from here on out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The electronic newsletter is distributed to all former students who have completed a formal qualification with SPU. \u201c<em>Alumni News<\/em> will keep our alumni informed about the most important developments related to SPU,\u201d Sompondo said. \u201cNot only will they stay connected with SPU, but they can also get news on the friends they made during their time at SPU, and of course one of the most valuable functions of an alumni network is connecting with other people in or outside your field who can help you in your career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The inaugural <em>Alumni News<\/em> issue includes articles on the pre-university placement enrichment <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/index.php\/spu-welcomes-2022-cohort-into-tpp\/\">Talent Pipeline Programme<\/a><\/span> (TPP), articles introducing alumni to postgraduate life as an SPU alumnus, and news on recent developments within SPU.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alumni can also stay up-to-date with the latest news and events from SPU by following its social media platforms on <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/MySPU\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Twitter<\/span><\/a>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SolPlaatjeUniv\">Facebook<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/sol-plaatje-university\/\">LinkedIn<\/a><\/span>, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/myspu.spu.ac.za\/\">MySPU app<\/a><\/span>, and regularly checking SPU\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/index.php\/latest-news\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">news website<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you are an alumnus and have not received an email with the <em>Alumni News<\/em> newsletter, please let the Alumni Affairs Office know by emailing <a href=\"mailto:alumni@spu.ac.za\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">alumni@spu.ac.za<\/span><\/a> or you can update your details by completing the Alumni Contact Form <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/3jABl49\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">here<\/span><\/a>. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Institutional Advancement (DIA) at Sol Plaatje University (SPU) has launched its first alumni newsletter, named Alumni News, aimed at connecting with the growing pool of SPU graduates.
