It\ntakes place in three phases and will be completed by the start of the academic\nyear in 2020. The construction work is being undertaken by two separate\nwomen-owned construction companies, Shebang Construction and KimKaho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"723\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost\/spu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/SPU-Site-Plan-Phases-12-F-1024x723.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/SPU-Site-Plan-Phases-12-F-1024x723.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/SPU-Site-Plan-Phases-12-F-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/SPU-Site-Plan-Phases-12-F-768x542.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/SPU-Site-Plan-Phases-12-F-360x254.jpg 360w, https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/SPU-Site-Plan-Phases-12-F.jpg 1812w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pedestrian\nand vehicular entrances, and access to the campus will be changed and parking\nwill be severely constrained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Signage\nwill be put up to guide you to the new (temporary) access points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pedestrian Entrance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students, staff and visitors will now use the pedestrian entrance to the North Campus which is located across from the Pick \u2019n Pay Centre on Chapel Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Vehicular Entrance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dual-lane entrance on Hentrich Street (to the north) will be closed off and a new, temporary gate has been installed just a little further down from that entrance, across from the De Beers building.\u00a0 Please exercise caution when entering and exiting since this is now a smaller access point then you have used to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Access to Luka Jantjie House<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access to\nthe Luka Jantjie House building will only be possible from the north side (De\nBeers building side) since the current access from the east and west sides will\nbe closed.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff who\npark in the basement can still gain access up the stairs and into the\ncourtyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Parking<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because of\nthe limited parking on the North Campus, staff and visitors are encouraged to\nuse on-street parking or the parking at the Public Library (off Chapel Street).\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Visitors<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please\nensure that you give your visitors clear details about where to park\n(on-street) and how to gain access to the building. It may help to meet your\nvisitors upon their arrival and then escort them to the relevant meeting venue\nor office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Emergency Assembly Areas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New\nemergency assembly areas will be designated and that information will be sent\nto you in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Construction\nwork necessarily causes disruption to our normal activities and we ask the SPU\ncommunity for their patience and cooperation during this temporary period as we\ndevelop a more exciting North Campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you\nfor your understanding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As you will have noticed, construction work at Luka Jantjie House began this week.
