{"id":4490,"date":"2019-03-05T17:53:16","date_gmt":"2019-03-05T15:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/spu\/?p=4490"},"modified":"2019-07-31T20:28:14","modified_gmt":"2019-07-31T18:28:14","slug":"hrsc-partners-with-spu-for-research-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\/index.php\/hrsc-partners-with-spu-for-research-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"HRSC partners with SPU for research programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsrc.ac.za\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Human Sciences Research Counci<\/a>l (HSRC) and SPU have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will focus on the higher education and development nexus of SPU in Kimberley and the Northern Cape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MoU centres on four initial broad themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; urban and\nregional development and higher education as a \u2018growth pole\u2019;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; community\nengagement;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; linking\npopular culture, industry linkages, higher education well-being, the student\nexperience; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; public\nunderstanding of science and innovation, and the SKA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The HSRC will support SPU\u2019s emerging research identity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;  develop\nresearch infrastructure;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; link SPU\nacademics to HSRC researchers;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; link the\nHSRC to SPU\u2019s developing postgraduate programmes through co-supervision\narrangements and, where possible, with internships for postgraduate students;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; consider\nmutual formal secondary affiliations of HSRC staff to SPU and SPU staff as\nfellows to the HSRC; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; collaboratively\nraise funding for the proposed research programme and in the process, build SPU\ncapacity among emerging researchers\/academics to raise funds in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research projects will impact on the teaching and learning\nfunction of the university curriculum development, infuse research into the\nundergraduate and postgraduate curriculum and keep the curriculum cutting edge\nand relevant by being research engaged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and SPU have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will focus on the higher education and development nexus of SPU in Kimberley and the Northern Cape.
