It is alleged that a fourth-year male student assaulted a first-year female student at a residence on campus. \u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bThe University wishes to put on record that it does not tolerate violent or criminal behaviour by its staff and students.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The University is aware that the incident was reported to the law enforcement agencies and the alleged perpetrator has been arrested.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the interim, the University has instituted an investigation into the matter and will follow its disciplinary procedures and protocols.\u00a0 The alleged perpetrator will be temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure, until the investigation has been finalised.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SPU is committed to ensuring the safety and security of its community and vehemently condemns any form of violence, harassment, intimidation and misconduct of students and staff.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sol Plaatje University (SPU) is aware of an incident that took place on Friday, 21 April 2023 involving two of its students.
