SPU’s School of Economic Management and Sciences (EMS), funded by the FASSET SETA<\/a><\/span> and operating under the portfolio of the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Programme Development (CTLPD), hosted its annual academic support awards ceremony for first- and second-year Bachelor of Accounting and Economics students. This inspirational event took place on 23 August 2023 at the SPU South Campus Multipurpose Hall in Kimberley.<\/p>

The annual awards ceremony showcases student\u2019s academic achievements as they transition into and through higher education, based on their academic performances. Students were recognised for their outstanding performance in Principles of Microeconomics, Computational Mathematics, Mathematics for Economists, and Business Statistics. They were also commended for demonstrating growth and development in adapting to the requirements of the registered degrees, which are BCom Accounting and Economics. This academic support initiative aligns with SPU\u2019s goal of establishing the foundations of an academic programme of teaching and learning excellence, as well as to ensure student-focused teaching and learning to develop an academic quality assurance system. Likewise, it establishes academic thrusts for focused teaching to advance critically engaged scholarship and plays a significant role in aiding students with individual and module tutorship support, academic advising, and academic writing programmes.<\/p>

FASSET Project Coordinator, Ms Seipati Nyamane highlighted the commitment and diligent work that the students have put in during the FASSET programme. \u201cIt takes dedication and hard work to constantly improve yourself, and now we\u2019re acknowledging your exceptional performance,\u201d she said. Ms Nyamane further explained that the support offered to students provides them with the opportunity to build enduring relationships. \u201cFor students to successfully complete their academic journey, the support and guidance of lecturers, academic advisors, and tutors is required,\u201d she stated.<\/p>
