Retail Business Management is a programme offered at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spu.ac.za\">Sol Plaatje University<\/a><\/span> (SPU) and this lecture will provide an opportunity for guests and students to discuss how retailers can bridge the gap between food producers and consumers, and the crucial role they play in ensuring food quality to positively impact consumer health and well-being.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin: 0cm; line-height: 16.2pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080; font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 16px;\"><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">In the South African context, the energy crisis has put pressure on the food supply chain, contributing to rising food prices.<\/span><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">As a result, retailers have had to invest in additional energy sources to maintain food safety and quality.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin: 0cm; line-height: 16.2pt; text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\" style=\"color: #808080; font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 16px;\">This lecture is part of an ongoing collaboration with the Wholesale and Retail Leadership Chair at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cput.ac.za\/\">Cape Peninsula University of Technology<\/a><\/span> (CPUT), funded by the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrseta.org.za\/\">Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority<\/a><\/span> (W&amp;RSETA). It serves as a forum for discussing key issues in the global food retail sector and their implications for our health. The event may also spur possible research ideas and serve as a foundation for further research initiatives and collaborations among the three universities.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin: 0cm; line-height: 16.2pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #808080; font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 16px;\"><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">Prof<\/span><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">Hultman, currently visiting CPUT, is also scheduled to visit SPU to deliver this public lecture on such a pressing subject. Prof<\/span><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">Hultman<\/span><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">has developed and taught courses in business administration at all levels<\/span><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">\u2013<\/span><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">undergraduate, graduate, executive, and doctoral<\/span><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">\u2013<\/span><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"xxbumpedfont15\">with a specific focus on retail marketing management.
