Their book, <em>Revisiting Sol Plaatje\u2019s Mafeking Diary<\/em>, launched in October 2023, was honoured for its scholarly excellence and contribution to humanities at the ceremony held at the Javett Art Centre, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.up.ac.za\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">University of Pretoria<\/span><\/a>.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This accolade, awarded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nihss.ac.za\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences<\/span><\/a>, marks a significant achievement for Mr Mokae and Prof Willan, highlighting their dedication to exploring and illuminating the legacy of Sol Plaatje. The duo\u2019s collaborative work, a deep dive into Plaatje\u2019s <em>The Mafeking Diary<\/em>, underscores the historical and academic importance of Plaatje\u2019s contributions, often overlooked in contemporary scholarship.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This award celebrates their academic rigor and reaffirms SPU\u2019s commitment to fostering innovative and socially responsive scholarship within the Creative Writing niche. With this recognition, SPU continues to spotlight the enduring relevance of Sol Plaatje\u2019s work and the University\u2019s role in promoting critical literary studies.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Mokae and Prof Willan have already embarked on their next venture, a comprehensive study of Plaatje\u2019s journalism, slated for release in 2026, to coincide with the 150th anniversary of Plaatje\u2019s birth.
