Recent research at SPU has underscored the urgent need for robust, science-led interventions.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ARWRC marks a significant milestone for SPU. The Centre will serve as a national hub for interdisciplinary water research, with a focus on:<\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li>Water quality, sanitation and public health<\/li><li>Groundwater and alternative water sources<\/li><li>The Water-Energy-Food nexus<\/li><li>Climate change resilience in arid environments<\/li><li>Indigenous knowledge systems and community engagement<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Beyond research, the Centre will also support postgraduate training, policy development and knowledge exchange through collaboration with government, academia and industry stakeholders.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The official launch event will bring together key role players from across the water sector to mark this important step forward &#8211; for SPU and for the future of sustainable development in arid regions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7461114 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"7461114\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sol Plaatje University (SPU) is proud to announce the launch of the Arid Region Water Research Centre (ARWRC), taking place on 14 April 2025.
