She has since completed a BA in Social Science, earned an Honours degree in Archaeology, and is now pursuing her Master\u2019s. Her most powerful contribution lies in what she\u2019s doing now: actively shaping SPU\u2019s research culture from within.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thami currently serves as the Postgraduate Student Representative on the Senate Committee on Research (SCR) &#8211; where she advocates for better postgraduate funding, international conference access, and more inclusive research output. Her goal is clear: to ensure that postgraduates are not only supported, but seen in the academic life of the university.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFor a university to thrive and lead, it must be active in research. And postgraduate students need both support and visibility in that process.\u201d &#8211; Thami Tebeka<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Beyond research, she also serves as the Communication Officer on the Convocation Executive, where she works to bridge the gap between graduates and the university. Since taking office, she\u2019s played a leading role in launching alumni chapters in Kimberley, Kuruman and Upington &#8211; creating spaces where SPU alumni can feel a continued sense of belonging and purpose.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thami\u2019s story is a powerful reminder of what it means to grow, give back, and lead with intention &#8211; not only within the university, but in service of its long-term mission.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From student to postgraduate research advocate, Thami Tebeka is among the SPU alumni who are translating their academic journeys into meaningful institutional impact.
