The Faculty of Humanities invites you to the third Annual Women in Research in the Humanities (WORTH) Colloquium on 16 September 2025.<\/p>

WORTH aims to bring together both established and emerging female researchers, scholars, and practitioners from across the Humanities to celebrate their achievements, address challenges, and foster collaboration. This event is a cornerstone of SPU\u2019s strategic goal to become a research-intensive institution, fostering research productivity and inclusivity within a supportive institutional culture.<\/p>

The event serves as a platform for networking, professional development, and meaningful discussions on advancing women\u2019s contributions to research. Rather than focusing on a single theme, WORTH embraces a range of topics that align with its core mission of promoting and celebrating women in research. These include Breaking Barriers, Innovative Research, Leadership and Mentorship, Diversity and Inclusion, and Work-Life Balance.<\/p>

Keynote Speaker: Professor Zimitri Erasmus<\/p>

About the Speaker:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

Zimitri Erasmus is an Associate Professor in Anthropology at the University of the Witwatersrand.\u00a0 Her book, Race Otherwise: Forging a New Humanism<\/em> for South Africa<\/em> (2017), was nominated for two awards. It continues her long scholarly engagement with the commonly held assumption that \u2018race\u2019 is self-evident and permanent by bringing together her thinking about the ways in which race works. She is the recipient of several international fellowships. Among her additional key interests are \u2018race\u2019 and bioethics; black radical thought, and socially just pedagogies that engage writing intensive and epistolary methods.<\/p>
