Sol Plaatje University (SPU)<\/span><\/a> notes with pride the appointment of its Chief Financial Officer, Ms Annalene Marais, to the National Council of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>

The SAICA National Council, established under the Institute\u2019s revised Constitution, is a governance and advisory structure representing members across the profession. It provides input to the SAICA Board on strategy, governance, and the sustainability of the accounting profession.<\/p>

Reflecting on her appointment, Ms Marais said: \u201cThis role presents an opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of the accounting profession in South Africa, particularly in strengthening governance, ethical leadership, and public sector capacity. It also creates a platform to ensure that the realities of institutions such as universities are represented in national engagements.\u201d<\/p>

Her appointment builds on her current role as Vice President of the SAICA Central Region Council, where she contributes to advancing governance and ethical leadership within the finance sector.<\/p>

This appointment reflects the depth of professional expertise within SPU\u2019s leadership and reinforces the University\u2019s commitment to sound financial governance and accountability.
