Justice Steven Majiedt, Chancellor of SPU and a Constitutional Court judge, recently hosted the Standard Bank Chancellor’s Golf Day at the Kimberley Golf Club, with the aim of raising funds for the Chancellor’s Bursary Fund. Invitational teams comprised of staff from SPU and Standard Bank, SPU’s partner on the Golf Day, took part in the golf challenge.
Justice Majiedt handed prizes to the best players at the end of the event, and said, “I’d like to thank all participants in today’s event, because without you it would not have been possible. The Golf Day is not only to celebrate and play golf, but to network and raise funds to grow and strengthen partnerships in order to make teaching and learning possible for the Northern Cape and South Africa as a whole.” He also thanked sponsors and especially Standard Bank for their involvement in raising funds.
Professor Andrew Crouch, SPU Vice-Chancellor and Principal, explained the importance of investing in young people, saying, “The youth, not only in the Northern Cape, but across South Africa, are our future. If we don’t invest adequately in the youth, then we’re not investing in our future. That is what this is about. It’s about investing in our future”.
