About the E-Learning & Curriculum Design
Through its programme, the E-Learning unit is committed to advancing digital learning and teaching through innovative technologies and e-pedagogical approaches. The programme is designed to support academic staff and students in effectively integrating technology into teaching, learning, and assessment.
The E-Learning unit, within the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Programme Development (CTLPD), provides strategic leadership and operational support for the university-wide integration of blended and e-learning.
The unit is responsible for:
- Managing and supporting the Learning Management System (Moodle)
- Enhancing online and blended learning experiences
- Providing training and capacity development for academic staff on best practices
- Offering instructional design support for course development
- Ensure effective use of educational technologies in teaching and learning
Moodle is the official Learning Management System (LMS) that facilitates online and blended learning. The platform provides a space for course content, online assessments, discussions, and interactive learning activities. The E-Learning unit ensures that the LMS is accessible, operational, user-friendly, and continuously upgraded to meet teaching and learning needs.
LMS and Integrated E-Tools Support Services
The E-Learning unit provides the following e-tools and LMS-related services:
- Technical support for staff and students
- Course design and instructional support
- Workshop training sessions on Moodle and e-tools functionalities
- Assistance with online proctored and non-proctored assessments, and marking tools
To capacitate lecturers with the skills needed for e-pedagogy and technology-enhanced learning, the E-Learning unit offers:
- Regular capacity development training workshops on Moodle and integrated e-tools
- One-on-one consultations for instructional design and online teaching strategies
- A professional development programme on e-pedagogy and online course design
The E-Learning unit actively explores and implements emerging technologies to enhance the student learning experience.
Key focus areas include:
- The awareness and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning
- The use of multimedia studios for interactive digital content creation
- The adoption of innovative proctoring assessment methods in online environments
To foster a culture of digital learning, the E-Learning unit organises:
- E-Learning Day & E-Learning Week (each semester)
- Monthly Webinar Series, aimed at enhancing digital teaching and learning
- Moodle Café Sessions, regular support sessions for students and academics
- Guest speaker sessions on technology integrated teaching and learning trends
- Benchmarking visits to leading institutions to enhance instructional design practices
