Mr David Kanguwe appointed SPU’s COO

Mr David F Kanguwe has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sol Plaatje University (SPU) as from 1 March 2021.

He takes over from the previous COO, Mr Raymond Olander, who retired after six years of serving as SPU’s COO.

Born and bred in Kimberley, Mr Kanguwe joins SPU as an accomplished executive with more than 15 years in the private sector where he held various senior management and executive positions in operations and business management.

He holds an MBA from Regenesys Business School, a Master of Science degree from the University of Leeds (West Yorkshire, England), a BSc Honours degree and BSc degree from the University of Cape Town.

The COO is a member of the Senior Management Team and has a central role in the development and implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan, responsible for key corporate functions across Physical Planning and Infrastructure, Facilities and Services, Security Services and Human Resources.

“I am delighted to be joining the University. I look forward to working with students and colleagues to help SPU make an even bigger impact in the city of Kimberley, the Northern Cape Province, and South Africa as a whole,” said Mr Kanguwe.

SPU welcomes this son of Kimberley to Sol Plaatje University and wishes him great success during his tenure.
