TALENT PIPELINE PROGRAMME

The Talent Pipeline Programme is a programme that aims to identify the top ten performing high school learners in grades 10, 11 and 12 from a broad range of rural schools in the Northern Cape province.

These learners will be accommodated at Sol Plaatje University during their school holidays and will participate in a psycho-social educational enrichment curriculum programme that consists of secondary and tertiary subjects.

The Talent Pipeline Project not only aims to upskill Grade 12 learners so that the University has a broader pool of students to select from but to also have University-ready matriculants who are better positioned to succeed at a higher education institution.

This programme is extremely successful in creating a pipeline of excellent learners who enter university, graduate and return to their hometowns where they will give back to their communities.

The cost of funding a single learner for a month-long pre-university enrichment programme of this type amounts to approximately R27000 per learner per annum. Costs would include travelling to the University, accommodation and meals for the contact engagements during their school holidays, plus the cost of qualified coordinators in the subject areas.

With your help, we can ensure that academically excellent students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds are given a fair chance to succeed in higher education.
