Dr Jody Cedras appointed University Registrar

Dear SPU Community

It is with great pleasure that I introduce Dr Jody Cedras, our new University Registrar, who took up the position on 1 January 2022.

Dr Cedras holds a Doctor of Administration in Public Management from the University of Pretoria, a Master of Philosophy in Applied Ethics from Stellenbosch University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (Employment Law and Social Security) and a Bachelor of Social Science in Political Studies, both from the University of Cape Town.

He has extensive experience in the development, implementation, and review of policies in higher education and professional bodies, including, among other things, access, quality assurance, level descriptors, academic planning, governance, professional body recognition, professional designations, continuing professional development, codes of ethics, programme accreditation and qualification registration.

As an academic administrator, he started his higher education career at the University of Cape Town in academic administration and academic planning and has worked in senior public service roles in the Department of Higher Education and Training, Higher Education South Africa (now Universities South Africa), the South African Qualifications Authority and Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University.

I wish Dr Cedras a successful tenure at Sol Plaatje University as the University Registrar.

Kind regards

Professor Andrew M Crouch

Vice-Chancellor and Principal
