These are awarded by the Centre and are aligned to the award amounts and conditions of the annual National Research Foundation (NRF) for an appropriate level of study (Honours, Masters, Doctoral) for a particular year.

Each bursary covers the following:

• Tuition fees
• Living and other expenses (paid monthly)
• Electronic device (optional)

For Post-Doctoral Fellowships, awards are made based on the amounts and conditions stipulated in the annual NRF Post-Doctoral Fellowship Framework. A monthly stipend is paid to the fellow while additional project-related costs (up to a value of R50 000) are also included.
