HASA conference postponed

South Africans and the world are facing an unprecedented period with the ongoing spread of COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus.

Given the uncertainty of how events will unfold in the next few weeks and indeed what changes will be made to the academic programme in South Africa, we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone the Historical Association of South Africa (HASA) conference that was scheduled to take place from 30 June to 2 July 2020.

There is considerable anxiety over attending conferences both locally and internationally at present.

Many universities have placed moratoriums on hosting academic events and are certainly not granting their staff leave to travel to conferences, workshops and seminars.

We will monitor the situation and in due course send out formal communication of when it will be possible to reschedule the conference.

If you have already paid your registration fee and will no longer be able to attend the conference on the new date, you will receive a full refund.

In the meantime, should you have questions, concerns or suggestions, please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing [email protected] or visit www.hgsa.co.za.

May you, your families and loved ones stay safe and in good health during this challenging time.
