Registration deadline further extended

To First Time Entering Students and Returning Students

The Minister of Higher Education and Training requested that, due to the NSFAS issues which had a direct impact on the registration of qualifying First Time Entering Students and Returning Students, institutions extend their registration period by two weeks.

At Sol Plaatje University, the registration period for First Time Entering Students (on campus – see the attached guide) and Returning Students (online – see guide here) is extended to Wednesday, 31 March 2021.

The following categories of Returning Students will be allowed to register with effect from Monday 15 March 2021 to 19 March 2021:

Category 1 – NSFAS RETURNING STUDENTS (Including potential graduates)

Students who were funded by NSFAS in 2020 – the Registration block to be lifted.

Category 2 – PENDING NSFAS APPROVAL

Students who previously applied for funding (2018, 2019) and are still awaiting approval by NSFAS – Registration block to be lifted if all modules were passed in 2020.

Category 3 – OTHER FUNDED STUDENTS

Students funded by other funders (e.g. SETAs) who have accumulated historic debt will need to follow the registration guidelines found here (i.e., sign the AOD and make payment arrangements).

Category 4 – SELF FUNDED STUDENTS

Self-funded students who passed all their modules in 2020 and qualify for the undergraduate financial assistance will have their tuition fee debt cleared. Registration guidelines will apply to the remaining debt.

Category 5 – POST GRADUATE STUDENTS

Full time post graduate students may apply for a Postgraduate Merit Bursary as stipulated in the policy on the website. Part time postgraduate students need to follow the registration guidelines on the website.

We trust that these accommodations will assist our students in completing the registration process for the 2021 academic year.
