The Ukrainian Association of South Africa, the History subject group at Sol Plaatje University (SPU) and the Polish Association of Siberian Deportees in South Africa will host an online conference titled ‘Socio-Economic connections between Eastern Europeans in South Africa’.

The conference takes place on Thursday, 10 June 2021 at 15:00 and SPU’s Senior Lecturer for History, Dr Cobus Rademeyer, will present on the ‘Background to Eastern Europeans in South Africa’.

The online event, with guest speakers from South Africa as well Central and East European countries, will discuss Eastern European communities in South Africa, their current contribution, integration and institutions. The conference also aims to start a conversation about the role these communities play in developing cooperation between South Africa and Eastern Europe.
