The University Council, on the advice of Senior Management Team, has agreed to a University lockdown for all SPU staff, from Tuesday, 24 March 2020 to Tuesday, 14 April 2020, under the following conditions:

  1. Employees are required to self-isolate for the period of the lockdown.
  2. Access to the University campuses is limited and at your own risk.  Staff must notify Campus Security and their Line Managers before coming onto campus.
  3. All academic and administrative staff will be required to work remotely. Deliverables should be confirmed with Line Managers.
  4. ICT support will be available through remote platforms that will be communicated in due course.
  5. All internal and external meetings are cancelled until further notice.
  6. A skeletal staff in the area of Maintenance will be on duty for the duration of the lockdown.
  7. Employees to follow normal procedures for the application of Annual Leave – where applicable.
  8. Plans to continue the infrastructure project is being managed by the Chief Operating Officer.
  9. Any member of the SPU community has the responsibility to report, to their Line Manager, their exposure to an infected person or a suspected infected person or who are themselves infected.
  10. Anyone who has travelled nationally and internationally to infectious hotspots must ensure that the necessary health precautions have been taken to ensure their health and that of others.
  11. Employees to communicate directly with their own Medical Aid Provider should they need to be tested for COVID-19.
