SPU revises Brand Guidelines as part of brand refocusing

The Sol Plaatje University (SPU) Department of Institutional Advancement (DIA) has been involved in a rigorous brand refocusing exercise to reposition the University brand. As a result of this process minor changes were introduced to the brand, with the image and core visual representation of the University remaining unchanged. The revised SPU Brand Guide containing our new style guide and visual representations of our brand captures the evolution of our institution’s brand identity since its founding in 2014. The new Brand Guide was noted and approved by the University Council on Wednesday, 30 March 2022.

As of today, 1 April 2022, the University will no longer use the internal logo (see below) in any of its correspondence, and the colour black will no longer form part of the SPU brand. The University has introduced the colour navy blue, and as such the corporate colours of SPU are red, orange, beige, and navy blue.

The new Brand Guide and revised University templates will be distributed to the SPU community. All staff, students and other entities trading on the name of our University are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new Brand Guide containing the brand identity guidelines. Compliance will be strictly monitored to ensure the consistency of brand positioning within SPU.

A branding implementation roll-out plan has been devised and will take effect within the first few weeks in April. A communique about this roll-out will be sent to the University community soon.

For any queries relating to the Brand Guide or the roll-out, please send an email to [email protected].
