SPU to host Higher Education Information Technology South Africa General Meeting

The Sol Plaatje University (SPU) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department will on 28 and 29 September 2022 host the Higher Education Information Technology South Africa (HEITSA) Spring General Institutional Meeting.

HEITSA collectively leads the application of digital capabilities to transform higher education in South Africa. The organisation provides mutual support mechanisms to all participating institutions by encouraging the development and application of standards and best practices through the sharing of expertise among the community.

SPU Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Andrew Crouch will officially open the two-day meeting and share experiences of running a university in the digital age.

The HEITSA General Institutional Meeting will give SPU the opportunity to engage higher education ICT professionals and extract value from hosting this annual event. In 2016 the SPU ICT Department successfully hosted the HEITSA Spring Meeting, and this latest meeting invites members back to SPU to showcase progress made at the university.

More than 60 delegates are expected to attend the meeting, which will take place at the SPU Conference Facility on South Campus. HEITSA represents the 26 public universities in South Africa who have been invited to attend this event, as well as other guests and affiliates from the higher education ICT sector.

The event will see corporate partners and other industry leaders exhibit the latest technology and engage with all stakeholders.
