In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic that requires the nation to practice social distancing to contain and reduce the number of infections, SPU’s Student Affairs department is pleased to announce that SPU students will still have an opportunity to participate in a career fair this year.

Hosted by the South African Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA), the career fair will take place entirely online and will allow employers to connect with students and potential graduates in a virtual environment, rather than in-person.

The aim is to accomplish the same objectives as a normal face-to-face event by providing a platform for a mass information drive for students through real-time digital platforms.

The #VirtualGradExpo will take place on 21 & 29 July, and 13 August 2020. Each day will feature three pavilions dedicated to specific industries as follows:

– A Main Pavilion for all majors

– A STEM Pavilion for majors in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and;

– An Accounting and Law Pavilion

Please take note:

– Pre-registration for the career fair is required. You must register to be able to participate in the #VirtualGradExpo.  The sooner you register the more time you will have to do research on the companies that will be exhibiting at the career fair.

– The expo will take place from 10:00 to 15:00 on each day of the three days. Since not all employers will be online each day, make sure you log in and engage on all three days to ensure maximum benefit from this expo.

– Virtual Career Fairs are more targeted than traditional career fairs. Therefore, it is essential that you prepare by doing the necessary research. Make a list of all companies attending the expo and prepare questions that you would like to ask with the goal of getting hired.
