The School of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) at Sol Plaatje University hosted the South African Institute for Chartered Accountants (SAICA) Business Games on Saturday, 23 October 2021.
Learners from six schools in Kimberley fielding the Top 15 in both Grade 10 and Grade 11 were presented with the opportunity to participate and put their business acumen to the test.
The business game challenges learners to take risks and make business decisions, thus assuming the role of a leader where they use their knowledge of accounting and mathematical literacy as entrepreneurs to make decisive decisions that require teamwork and strategic thinking.
Learners enjoyed the real-world experience and found this practical simulation helpful as it expanded and improved their knowledge. The team that made the most profit won a trophy, and all participants received medals for participation.
The School of EMS is proud to have been selected to host the SAICA Business Games and used this opportunity to network with educators from various schools in Kimberley and further engage the SAICA on prospects to develop accreditation of the School’s accounting programmes.
