The Campus Housing and Accommodation Unit at Sol Plaatje University (SPU) will be celebrating Women’s Day on 28 August 2023 under the theme ‘Embracing Equity’, which was adopted from this year’s International Women’s Day Campaign theme, with the purpose of embracing women empowerment and accentuating the importance of equity.
Ms Primrose Masango, Self-identity and Purpose Specialist Activist, and Mrs Nomazizi Maputle, Speaker: Sol Plaatje Municipality, are two phenomenal women who will be guest speakers at this prestigious event.
Women’s Day marks the anniversary of the 1956 march, where approximately 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest legislation intended at tightening the apartheid government’s control over the movement of black women.
