Sol Plaatje University is pleased to announce that the School of Education will host the 34th South African Society for History Teaching (SASHT) conference from 1-2 October 2021. Due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will be held virtually.

The 34th Annual Conference of the SASHT is calling upon academic historians, history educators and students to submit proposals for papers and workshops to be presented at the upcoming virtual conference around the theme: “Teaching controversial and emotive topics in a diverse society”.

Abstract Submission: An abstract of approximately 300 words (preferably in English) should be submitted as an e-mail attachment to sasht2021@spu.ac.za. Abstracts for papers, workshops or/and posters must reach us no later than Friday, 20 August 2021.

The SASHT conference organisers will let prospective presenters know by Friday, 03 September 2021 whether their proposals were accepted or not. A preliminary conference programme will be posted on the SASHT website and disseminated via e-mail by Friday, 17 September 2021 (click here to download further details and information on conference registration).

This event is another indication that our institution is a desired space for academic engagements and your support for a successful event is highly solicited.
