Celima Mundama, an SPU Chess player and alumnus, showcased her skills at the recent close competition held in Pretoria from 12-14 April. It was a fierce competition, as the top 10 female university affiliated players, vied for a coveted spot on the South African team.
Celima’s stellar performance earned her a spot to represent Team South Africa at the FISU WUC MIND SPORTS event in Uganda, slated for 25-30 June 2024.
SPU celebrates Celima’s achievement, highlighting her journey as a testament to the power of persistence, consistency, hard work and discipline. We acknowledge her coach, Xolani Mathebula, whose guidance and mentorship played a pivotal role in Celima’s success.
