The Sol Plaatje University (SPU) will host the 2023 Mr and Miss SPU, under the theme, “Light of Africa”, on 14 October 2023. This year, the event will not only focus on beauty and brains, instead, students will be given a chance to showcase their talents.
This year, the pageant aims to break the existing challenges faced by most students, such as poverty, academic stress and pressure, depression, and anxiety. This will be attainable by creating appropriate and sustainable programs, that will ensure that students are filled with hope and ambition, while creating a clean and positive environment for residences.
The crowned winners, together with the house committees, will establish a youth forum through which students can identify and engage about problems they face in various residences and campuses, to collectively come up with solutions that might assist them.
Through this student engagement platform, issues students face will be easily resolved, and SPU will produce top-achieving graduates and maintain a healthy student environment.
