Earlier in December 2018, the National Research Foundation announced that it had awarded four grants to SPU academics.

This was made up of one new grant which was was awarded to NAS’ Dr Kamila Sekonya.

The remaining two grants made to NAS’ Dr Jeremia Sefadi and Ayanda Zungu are continuations of current grants.

All NAS grants were made to academics in the Department of Physical Sciences.

The last grant was made to the NRF Y2 rated researcher Dr Nhlanhla Mpofu and is another existing grant.
