On Friday, 26 November 2021, Professor Andrew M Crouch will be installed as Sol Plaatje University’s 2nd Vice-Chancellor and Principal.

We had hoped to have the Installation soon after Professor Crouch took office on 1 April 2020. However, the national lockdown that went into effect at that time and then the health and safety considerations around containing the COVID-19 pandemic meant that we postpone this important event several times.

The University will host the Installation Ceremony at its new Sport and Recreation Campus, also known as South Campus, in our newly renovated Sol Plaatje University Community Hall. Parking is limited on that campus, for now, due to ongoing construction, so we have applied for permission to close the following streets for this event:

  1. Corner of Waterworks Street and Reservoir Road
  2. Corner of Black Street and Reservoir Road
  3. Corner of Buchanan Street and Reservoir Road
  4. Corner of Birbeck Street and Reservoir Road

We have received the necessary approval from the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality and have notified the residents about this temporary road closure.

We apologise for any inconvenience that these arrangements may cause.
