After a brief pause in fixtures across the province, the Sasol Women’s League resumed this past weekend and the SPU Ladies made their return in spectacular form with two dominant wins in back-to-back matches.

SPU Ladies kicked off their return with a 5 – 0 victory over Power Boys Ladies FC at Mataleng Stadium in Barkly West. The team came out firing from the first whistle, displaying control, pace and cohesion throughout the match. Patricia Mogapi (jersey no. 16) was unstoppable in front of goal, netting four of the five goals. Patience Manyetsa (jersey no. 3) added added another goal, rounding off a superb team performance.

The momentum continued at home, where the SPU Ladies faced Amakipkip FC at the SPU Sports Precinct. With sharp build-up play and creative combinations, the team delivered another exciting display, securing a 6-0 win. This time, goals were more evenly spread. Patricia Mogapi once again led the charge with two goals, bringing her weekend tally to six. Patience Manyetsa followed with another two goals, while Zanele Nkonki (jersey no. 11) and Nombulelo Mahlangu (jersey no. 12) each contributed a goal to the final tally.
The SPU Ladies’ performance over the weekend marks a significant return to league action, showing the team’s depth, discipline and hunger to climb the provincial standings. With standout performances from Mogapi and Manyetsa, and an energetic collective effort from the full squad, the team has set a high tone for the next leg of fixtures.
