Sol Plaatje University (SPU) will host the annual satellite event in the form of a hybrid colloquium during South African-Sweden University Forum (SASUF) Research and Innovation Week from 27 to 31 March 2023. This week comprises two important components: Satellite events across the country on 27 and 28 March 2023, followed by the SASUF Sustainability Forum from 29 to 31 March 2023.
SASUF 2023 is a strategic internationalisation project that unites 40 partner universities in South Africa and Sweden. The overall aim of this project is to strengthen ties between the two countries in the fields of innovation, research and education.
Research and Innovation Week brings together researchers, university leaders, educators and stakeholders that jointly develop solutions to the challenges posed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2023.
SPU – as a partner in SASUF Research and Innovation Week – plays a crucial role in the advancement of multilateral sustainable collaboration networks as vehicles for attaining improved and more impactful results, as opposed to working in a unilateral ecosystem. Sustainable collaborations, by definition, generate strategic and innovative approaches, smart solutions, and society-driven outcomes to address the grand challenges confronting many communities all over the globe.
During the 2023 SASUF Research and Innovation Week, SPU SASUF delegates will host a satellite event: a hybrid Colloquium on 27 March. The Colloquium’s focus will be: How do Higher Education Institutions achieve the SDGs through research, teaching, and community engagement?
A delegation comprising of Prof Andrew Crouch, four academics, a student representative and a senior administrator will participate in the Sustainability Forum from 29 to 31 March 2023 at the University of the Western Cape as part of the SASUF Research and Innovation Week.
Strong multilateral agreements, cooperations, exchange programmes, mutual respect, and trust between local and international entities/institutions for sustainable development are the keys to unlocking future prosperity. SASUF will concentrate its efforts in 2023 on joint-venture solutions to the challenges posed by the 17 SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, and SPU is proud to partner with SASUF to achieve these objectives.
