In celebration of Women’s Month, the Accredited Off-Campus Accommodation (AOCA) Office at Sol Plaatje University (SPU) made a meaningful contribution to the community by donating essential items to new mothers at Kimberley Hospital on 15 August 2024. This gesture was part of AOCA’s efforts to honour and support women during this significant month.
This initiative reflects SPU’s objectives of community engagement and social responsiveness, key pillars of our mission to make a positive impact in society. By supporting new mothers during a critical and often challenging time, SPU continues to demonstrate its commitment to community care and support.
The donation, which included basic toiletries such as soap, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and sanitary towels, was intended to ease the transition into motherhood for these women, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances. By meeting some of their immediate needs, we aim to provide comfort and allow these new mothers to focus on bonding with their babies.
As we celebrate Women’s Month, this initiative by the AOCA Office not only honours the strength and resilience of women but also underscores SPU’s commitment to uplifting the community it serves.
