Sol Plaatje University (SPU) is proud to host the University Sport South Africa (USSA) Rugby 7s Tournament for the third consecutive year. We will welcome teams from universities across the country for three days of exhilarating rugby action on our home ground.
The tournament kicks off on Friday, 20 September 2024 with registration and an opening ceremony, setting the stage for a weekend filled with high-intensity rugby matches. Saturday, 21 September will see back-to-back games across multiple teams, culminating in the finals and a closing ceremony on Sunday, 22 September. Matches will take place at SPU’s state-of-the-art Sports Precinct which includes the Suzuki Stadium.
Here are the Day 1 fixtures for our SPU male and female teams on Saturday, 21 September :

- 09:20: SPU vs University of Mpumalanga (Astro 2)
- 13:20: SPU vs Vaal University of Technology (Astro 1)
- 15:55: SPU vs ETA College (Astro 1)
SPU Female Team Fixtures
- 09:45: SPU vs Vaal University of Technology (Astro 1)
- 12:55: SPU vs Varsity College (Astro 1)
- 15:55: SPU vs Rhodes University (Astro 2)
The results of the matches on Day 1 will determine the fixtures for Day 2, when teams will battle for their final positions.
