The Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences is proud to announce that Sol Plaatje University (SPU) will host the 2025 ASTROLAB Workshop Training from 25 to 29 August 2025 at the Applied Sciences Building, Central Campus.
The ASTROLAB Workshop offers an interactive, hands-on training experience designed to equip students with practical skills in astronomy. Participants will engage in remote telescope access, observation, data acquisition and analysis, image processing, and scientific reporting, while exploring both the historical and modern relevance of the Astrolabe.
Eligibility:
Participation is open to SPU students in the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, particularly those specialising in Physics, Mathematics, or Data Science, who have a strong interest in astronomy, space, and scientific discovery.

Dates: 25 – 29 August 2025
Venue: Applied Sciences Building, Central Campus
Support: Travel, accommodation and meals will be provided to selected participants.
Students are encouraged to bring personal laptops. SPU’s Computer Lab resources will also be made available.
