Sol Plaatje University in collaboration with The Carpentries and SADiLaR (The South African Centre for Digital Language Resources) is organising and hosting an ONLINE Data Carpentry Training Workshop from 2nd – 6th August 2021.

This workshop is aimed at equipping students (third year and postgraduate students), academics and researchers with basic research data processing skills.

Participants will be introduced to the basics of research data processing and organisation using Spreadsheets, research data cleaning using OpenRefine and data processing & visualisation using R.

The workshop’s target audience are researchers and third year & postgraduate students who have little to no prior computational experience. The lessons are domain specific, building on learners’ existing knowledge. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

Participants do not need to have any prior knowledge or experience in using the tools that will be used at the workshop.

The workshop is fully ONLINE and SADiLaR will help cover data costs for participants.

Costs: Participation is FREE
