SPU Research office wins SARIMA award

Sol Plaatje University together with the Namibia University of Science and Technology were announced as the joint winners of South African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) award for Organisational Growth Research Management.

SARIMA is a member association for all professionals working in Research and Innovation Management across the National System of Innovation (includes Higher Education, Science Councils, Government Depts, Government agencies such as the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI), the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO), the Technology and Innovation Agency (TIA) et., private sector and research performing organisations in civil society. Anyone in this ecosystem may become a member and participate.

Ms. Takatso Semenya, Director for the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Programme Development, expressed her gratitude for the award.

“Winning this award is significant for the team because it signifies a national and international recognition of the growth that we have managed to achieve as a young and small team. It means that our work is recognised within the Research Management sphere, and this gives us the confidence to keep moving and aim even higher”.

Vice Chancellor Prof Andrew M. Crouch is proud of the achievements and progress of the research office as they move the university forward towards the achievement of its strategic ambition of becoming a research active institution of higher learning in South Africa.

“We are truly proud of the progress the Research office is making.  Congratulations to Ms Semenya (SPU Director of Research) and her team; it is good to see their efforts being recognised”, said Prof Crouch.
