SPU Gemmies to take center stage at Telkom Netball League

The Telkom Netball League (TNL), an interprovincial league which is ranked as the most elite league within South African Netball, begins another exciting season. SPU Sport is exited to announce that two of our Gemmies, Andile Dlamini and Amnkelekile Malambile will represent   the Northern Cape Diamonds in this prestigious league.

Amnkelekile originally from the Cape winelands is a second year Retail Business Management student, and a member of the SPU Netball Club.  Amnkelekile started playing netball at a very young age and has grown into a young Netball superstar.

Notable achievements:

  • District Championship: U19 Silver Medalist
  • Northern Cape Senior Inter-District: Gold Medalist
  • Cape Winelands Federation Super League: Silver Medalist
  • Frances Baard District Senior Spar Championships: Bronze Medalist
  • NC Diamonds -2024

Andiswa Dlamini, originally from Gauteng, is one of the SPU High Performance Sport Recruits for 2024. She is certainly a marvel to watch. She is a first-year student, studying Court Interpreting.

Andiswa is someone to watch during this season.

Notable achievements:

  • Northern Cape Senior Inter-District: Gold Medalist
  • Frances Baard District Senior Spar Championships: Bronze Medalist
  • TNL 2023: Recipient of Player of the Match awards in two matches.
  • Selected into the SA U23 Development Team.

Deborah Kintenge also a student and member of the SPU Netball club was selected as a non- traveling member. The TNL is set to kick-off during power week which takes place from 26 April to 5 May, followed by matches being played through May and June at the Elis Park Arena.

We wish the young women all the best, let’s bring the Gemmie Fire to the Ellis Park Arena!
