Reflecting on the 2024 USSA Rugby 7s, we celebrate the remarkable performances of all the participating teams. The tournament, hosted by Sol Plaatje University within its Sport Precinct, saw the TUKS men’s team and NWU women’s team emerge as the champions, each demonstrating exceptional skill and determination on the field.
Throughout the event, teams displayed incredible athletic prowess and strategic gameplay, culminating in the TUKS men’s team’s commanding victory in their final match against STADIO with a score of 21-14. Similarly, the NWU women’s team showcased their dominance, proving why they were the ones to watch since as they held onto their title from last year . Their final match against SU ended with a 26-0 victory. Notably, Marli George from NWU was awarded player of the match twice in the finals, highlighting her significant contributions to her team’s success.
Hosting the USSA 7s aligns with SPU’s strategic objectives of fostering community engagement, contributing to local economic growth, and promoting national sport development. This initiative supports our goal of delivering sporting excellence, enhancing high-performance sports programmes, and amplifying SPU’s presence on the national stage.
