Sol Plaatje University (SPU) proudly sent ten of its staff members to represent the institution at the prestigious annual ITS Integrated User Group (ITSIUG) Conference, held in Windhoek, Namibia, from 13 to 15 March 2023.
The ITS Integrator System is a cutting-edge integrated management system used by Higher Education and Training institutions worldwide. Departments such as Finance, Human Resources, ICT, Teaching and Learning, and, crucially, students themselves, benefit from this versatile system.
SPU’s expert team was invited to attend the conference in recognition of their daily use of the system across various work domains. The esteemed representatives from SPU included Dr Mosia Moeketsi, Mr Godfrey Rudolph, Mr Tobile Gqili, Ms Didimalang Ratikoane, Mr Tebogo Motumi, Ms Valerie Herman, Mr Wayne Wilkonson; Mr Jeremy Bantam, Ms Charmaine Serei, Ms Thabisa Cebisa and Ms Karen Cupido.
Karen Cupido, the General Manager on the Executive Committee of the ITSIUG, highlighted the conference’s objectives: keeping delegates up to date on system developments, resolving problem areas, and sharing best practices. SPU was acknowledged and celebrated for its decade-long utilisation of the Integrated ITS management system at the event.
The ITSIUG Conference provides a unique platform for ITS Integrator System users, from young end users to experienced specialists, to enhance their skills and understanding of the system’s best practices. SPU staff participation ensures they remain informed of new developments and methods, which ultimately leads to improved teaching, learning and overall work outcomes.
The conference featured insightful presentations by Namibia’s Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Honourable Emma Theofelus, on “Leveraging Revolutionary Technology to Support Digital Transformation for a Sustainable Future!” and Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) Vice-Chancellor, Dr Erold Naomab, on “How Resilient, Dynamic, and Inclusive is Today’s Higher Education?”
Since its inception in 1987, the ITSIUG has grown to include 58 Higher Education and TVET institutions across Africa, Ireland, and New Zealand. For nearly 40 years, the group has tackled pressing enhancement issues with active input from delegates of various institutions.
